An independent registered charity, offering science education, public engagement, and heritage activities for pupils of all ages. The Ri’s purpose is to connect as many people with science as possible, encouraging everyone to think more deeply about the way in which it shapes the world around us.

Our Learning Offer

We offer a range of activities for young people to support the science curriculum, at the Ri, in schools and online. These include the world-famous CHRISTMAS LECTURES; family talks from scientists in the Ri’s historic lecture theatre and livestreamed online; annual events with the Mayor of London; hands-on science workshops in our fully equipped young scientist laboratory; a free museum and more.

Example Project

We host regular Family talks in our Theatre for young people aged 7+, which include our series of ‘For Your Inspiration’ events. These are aimed at older pupils and give practical insights into various careers in science, at the point at which they are making A-level and university study choices. Hearing directly from practising scientists, pupils find out exactly what working as a research chemist, or an electrical engineer, or an oceanographer (etc) is really like on a day-to-day basis.
