Akademi is UK’s leading South Asian Dance charity based in London. Akademi’s mission is to develop artists, inspire audiences and change lives by creating, commissioning and nurturing classical, contemporary, popular and participatory South Asian dance in the UK.

Our Learning Offer

South Asian dance inspires and enriches lives. We create high impact arts programmes that promote physical and mental wellbeing, as well as creative learning, cross curricular and skills development for young people, with a specialisation in pupils with SEND.

Example Project

The Reach Out and Reveal programme places South Asian dance artists ‘in residence’ at schools for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

The project aims to support the physical, emotional and communication needs of children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and SEND. Specialist Akademi practitioners provide weekly dance and movement sessions across three partner schools, working closely with school and teaching staff.
