A-Level science and art discussion event exploring the life-giving and death-dealing force of electricity. All speakers will be discussing the central question: How can understanding electricity in the body help us understand ourselves?
Time: 3.30 – 5.00pm
Venue: The Forum, Wellcome Collection, 183 Euston Road, London, NW1 2BE
We are delighted to be joined by three fantastic experts in their fields to provoke sparkling discussion around the theme of electricity. Professor Sophie Scott, UCL neuroscientist, will speak on the electrical nature of the brain. Professor Chris Clark is head of the developmental Imaging and Biophysics Section (DIBS) at Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, and he’ll be discussing using MRI scanning to map the way parts of the brain communicate with each other. Katharine Dowson is an artist who uses her personal experience of medical imaging to create her work. The talk will be facilitated by science facilitator and musician, Jonny Berliner who will encourage the audience to join in with this fascinating discussion.
