Now in its second year, Poetry & Lyrics from Poet in the City returns to Kings Place. Headlines include readings and conversation with PJ Harvey and Don Paterson exploring the craft of words compered by John Wilson, The Land Listeners – a Nest Collective collaboration with folk icon Jackie Oates, an immersive performance of John Cage’s Song Books and an evening exploring the verses of vice, and vice versa with Murray Lachlan Young and Don Black.

Elsewhere in the festival you can join us for a family friendly session with Nick Cope, the former Candyskins frontman who has been enchanting kids and parents alike with his playful wordsmithery as he leads a creative songwriting session, and let a multitude of sonic landscapes wash over you in The Sonic Wall, a free cinematic encounter minus the pictures, from In The Dark. Kayo Chingonyi gives us a teaser of his forthcoming collection Kumukanda which investigates love and heartbreak through song, while celebrated soprano Catherine Hopper performs classical lieder and opera from across history that will show the potent relationship between poetry and opera.

From first-looks to free performances, the festival is full of enchanting experiences, so come and get stuck in. We look forward to seeing you there.
