Partner Schools receive a heavily subsidised package of teacher CPD, creative dance lessons for pupils, half price theatre tickets and more, which will support any primary school’s Artsmark application.
After a successful pilot this academic year, John’s Lyon’s Charity have awarded The Place funding for the next three years to subsidise its Partner Schools programme for primaries as part of The Place’s wider project to Get Camden Dancing. For little more than the price of a creative dance project, primary schools in Camden can enjoy a year-long partnership with The Place, Camden’s local, international dance house.
The Partner School package has been designed to inspire teachers and pupils alike to explore dance as makers, watchers and performers through a vibrant range of activity. Starting with an aspiration-raising tour of The Place, two class groups then work in-school to create pieces to perform at the Camden Schools’ Dance Festival, presented on our stage. Up to 120 pupils can experience in-school performances by dancers in training from London Contemporary Dance School and put their questions to them in a facilitated feedback session. Partner Schools benefit from priority booking and 50% off tickets to The Place’s midweek matinees for schools, meaning your pupils can visit a professional theatre to experience world-class dance performances for as little as £2 per ticket. With 1.5-3 hours of bespoke teacher CPD designed to address individual or whole staff training needs, becoming a Partner is an effective way to develop and embed dance in your school. The multi-stranded approach of the project has been specifically designed to support schools seeking Artsmark accreditation. Partner School places are limited each year and are allocated on a first-come, first served basis.
Project work in the 2017 / 2018 academic year will take place at The Place and in school. We are keen to deliver work at times that will suit you and your school.
