First Story and UCL Special Collections jointly present a free CPD workshop for GCSE English teachers.

Date: 15/03/2018
Time: 5:00pm – 6:30pm

Venue: University College London, Gower Street, London.  WC1E 6BT

How to book: Click here to register your place on Eventbrite.

Details: Led by the novelist and short story writer, Rachel Seiffert, this event aims to give English teachers the tools to help pupils create a structured piece of creative writing, even if the prompt provided is unfamiliar or difficult to understand.  It will use UCL’s incredible collection of archives, rare books and manuscripts as inspiration as well as drawing on First Story’s and UCL Special Collections’ expertise in education, creative writing and the use of primary resources in creative work.

The evening will address:

  • The creative-writing element in GCSE exam papers (we ask attendees to inform us of their exam board)

  • Investing in an object – making something special so that it becomes interesting to write about

  • Responding creatively to images no matter how unfamiliar

Tea, coffee and wine will be provided.
