The Goldsmiths’ Company is launching a major new award in September 2018 to celebrate the positive impact schools have, through charitable and voluntary initiatives, within their local communities.
These activities are of vital importance to many but often go unrecognised. The Goldsmiths’ Community Award recognises, publicises and provides financial support to outstanding initiatives at schools that have community engagement ingrained in their DNA.
Finalists will be invited to the magnificent Goldsmiths’ Hall, in London, for a ceremony and a chance to showcase their community engagement activities. Winning schools will also receive financial rewards to enable the continuation and expansion of existing programmes.
About the Award
The Goldsmiths’ Community Award is student-led and participation in the award will not place a significant additional workload on staff. Rather, groups of students will be required to make the award submission.
Examples of activities which would qualify for submission are:
• Helping others in the local community including the elderly, infirm and those with special needs.
• Improving the local community through environmental work, litter removal and conservation activities.
• Raising awareness within the local community about personal safety, road safety etc.
• Helping local community organisations such as charities and youth organisations.
About the Goldsmiths’ Company
The Goldsmiths’ Company conducts extensive charitable work to support the education of young people. Staff and students from schools that progress to the final will be invited to Goldsmiths’ Hall for a presentation ceremony and will get to experience an event at a venue that has doubled as Buckingham Palace and the Kremlin in films.
